Yesterday, I took part in the first ever Linzer City night run. So did more than 1.000 others, too.
I was said to run 2 laps each 2.2k, in fact it went out to be 2 laps each 2.35, so 4.700m all in all.
I started quite fast on the first k (slight falling) in 3:04 - thank god, I still can manage to run that fast :-) After that I found a "comfortable" speed, with 2nd k in 3:22 (slight uphill), and first round in 7:30.
Times for the 2nd lap where 3:23 and 3:25 (starting already to overtake), second round in 7:54. I finished on 10th place overall and on 6th place in M30 with a time of 15:24. For the podium in my class I should have run 27sec faster - no way! With an average of approx. 3:17/k I am very happy.
Next to come: two national ranking events: supposed to be sprint and ultralong, the hard facts sound a bit different:
sprint with 3.6/55/21 in an old town will not be below 15min - that's for sure! And 58 controls (21,8/595) on ultralong sounds like nothing else than 4 times a middle distance... let's see and hope the best :-)
