why I love orienteering

Yesterday, I did an intervall o-training at homeground in Witzelsberg. I started at half past five, so the sun was already quite low on the horizon, no clouds in the blue sky. I enjoy every single step at every single training in this terrain.

Orienteering - you can do it in winter, either with skis on your feet or by running through snowy winter landscape. Enjoying a sauna or (in Austria normally just) a hot drink afterwards when sitting with friends together in a warm room discussing about future plans, laughing about things that happened in the past... Or you can do orienteering in spring time, when you see how nature awakes, birds are singing, everything gets green and the air is still fresh. I love orienteering in summer, when sunset is very late and you can do some nice orienteering after work without any problem until 9 p.m. You get hot temperatures, sometimes thunderstormes and heavy rainshowers and much daylight. And of course autumn, when you see falling leaves while having a run. Sun is maybe still shining, but you can see already your own breath. Also night orienteering takes place here in Austria in autumn.

For all these experiences and of course much more of them, you just need a map and an interesting terrain - and the fun can start right away!

Thanks for (so far) more than 20 years of enjoyment!
